Cashmere is something that has long been synonymous with style and luxury, and many of us may have an inkling (perhaps after some not too subtle dropped hints) that somebody special in our lives would appreciate an item of cashmere clothing or a cashmere accessory as a gift to mark a special occasion. But where should we begin with choosing a cashmere gift? Get it wrong, and you could be making an expensive mistake if the item is banished to the back of the recipient’s closet, never to see the light of day again. Wrong sizes, unflattering colours, and just plain old ugly items of clothing are all risks that we run when choosing clothes as presents for somebody else, and when we are shopping for something as pricey as cashmere we really don’t want to get it wrong.
If you are looking for cashmere knitwear, be sure you know exactly what the recipient’s size is, and what type of styles they wear. For example, not everybody is a fan of the polo neck (clue for male shoppers, ladies with large busts tend to avoid polo necks as they make the chest look larger still) and some people would not wear a cardigan under any circumstances, while others see the cardigan as an essential item in their day to day wardrobe.
A simple cashmere sweater in a neutral colour (black or charcoal grey are safer options than white or beige, which stain easily) is hard to get wrong, and will fit perfectly into the wardrobes of most style conscious people.
Alternatively, if you want to give a cashmere gift but don’t want to run the risk of making a size or style error, it is hard to go wrong with luxury cashmere scarves or cashmere gloves. Avoid bold prints and again, go for neutral colours, and you should be safe in the knowledge that your present will not only be appreciated, but will be used well into the future.
Let’s face it, cashmere is a material that feels so luxurious and indulgent that there can be very few men and even fewer women out there that would not love to receive it as a gift, so just make your cashmere scarf purchase with care and you can bet you will be making a gift choice that will be received with genuine delight.
